Erasmus MCSamenvatting van het onderzoek
Musculoskeletal (MSK) problems are one of the most reported complaints in general practice. Often these complaints already start at a young age, are persistent and and already have a big influence on their quality of life. The general goal of this research is: gain more insight in the prevalence, incidence, management and long-term results of MSK complaints in children and adolescents. For a lot of MSK disorders the answers to these questions are still unclear, especially in this (age) population. We are going to answer (some) of these questions by using the new Rijnmond Gezond database.
The Rijnmond Gezond database consist of about 250.000 anonymized patient records of General practices in the region. The database provides us with the opportunity to for example see how many patients present with a specific complaint, at what age they present, what treatment they receive and how long the complaints persists, how many times the patient return to the GP and the distribution of the complaints through age. Some of the MSK that will be studied are Osgood-Schlatter’s disease and non-traumatic knee problems with an emphasis on Patellofemoral pain syndrome.
