Study design: A prospective cohort study with a 6 months follow-up.Study population: Patients with shoulder complaints that consult a physiotherapist, n=400Procedure: Included patients fill in a baseline questionnaire and follow-up questionnaires at 6, 12 and 26 weeks. Physiotherapists fill in a treatment diary at 6, 12 and 26 weeks.Main outcome measures are recovery and whether patients received a diagnostic ultrasound. Results: In total 125 physiotherapists participated and included 389 patients. Overall 122 received diagnostic ultrasound. At 26 weeks 60% (n=233) patients reported to be recovered. Physiotherapists found over 20 different diagnostic labels for these patients, but the main treatment strategy was exercise in over 80% of patients.
